Most mobile projects don’t fail because of code. They fail because of unclear scope, the wrong platform choice or an architecture that can’t survive version two. I have spent more than a decade building apps that real people depend on every day: crew-mobility apps for Southwest Airlines flight crews, the customer-facing Progressive Insurance app, and emergency-response apps with barcode scanners and medical devices for Global Emergency Resources.
What I build
- Customer-facing apps for consumers, with polished UI, accessibility, analytics and App Store Optimization.
- Internal and field-workforce apps for crews, technicians and inspectors. These often need offline-first data, MDM deployment, scanners and other hardware.
- MVPs for founders. I scope the smallest version worth launching and ship it quickly, with a clean path to scale.
- Apple-platform extras, including widgets, App Clips, Apple Watch companions, push and Live Activities.
How a typical project runs
- Discovery (1–2 weeks). We go through user flows, a technical plan, the platform decision and a fixed estimate.
- Design. Wireframes and UI in Figma, or I implement your designer’s files exactly.
- Build in two-week increments. You get a TestFlight or internal-testing build every sprint, so you see progress on your own phone.
- Launch. Store submission, review handling, crash monitoring and a launch checklist.
- Support. An optional retainer covers OS updates, new features and the annual Xcode and Android SDK upgrades.
Why hire a senior independent instead of an agency?
You work directly with the engineer writing your code. There’s no account manager in the middle and no junior developer learning on your budget. I bring enterprise-grade habits like code review, testing, CI/CD and security without enterprise-grade overhead.
Frequently asked questions
Should my app be native or cross-platform?
It depends on your users, your budget and how much platform-specific hardware you touch. Apps that lean on Bluetooth, barcode scanners, background location or heavy animation usually justify native. Content and form-driven apps are often a great fit for Flutter. I have shipped production apps both ways and will recommend the cheaper option when it is good enough.
Can you publish the app under my company's developer account?
Yes, and I recommend it. You own the listing, the reviews and the signing keys. I handle App Store Connect and Google Play Console setup, review submissions and release management.
Do you also build the backend?
Yes. I build and integrate APIs, authentication, push notifications and admin dashboards, or I work against your existing backend team's API.
